Quartzite Countertops
Elegant. Durable. Naturally Stunning.
Quartzite is a premium natural stone known for its strength, beauty, and unique surface depth that gives it a luminous, almost three-dimensional appearance, something synthetics can’t match.
While incredibly hard and scratch-resistant, quartzite is a natural material that requires periodic sealing to help protect against stains and preserve its appearance over time.
It’s an ideal choice for those seeking a high-end, natural stone surface that combines durability with timeless style.
Where Does Quartzite Come From?
Quartzite is a naturally occurring stone that begins its journey deep within the Earth. It forms when pure sandstone is exposed to intense heat and pressure over millions of years—a process known as metamorphism. This transformation fuses the quartz grains together, creating one of the hardest and most durable natural stones available for countertops.
Today, high-quality quartzite is quarried from locations around the world. Some of the most popular sources include Brazil, Italy, Norway, India, and the United States. Each region produces quartzite with its own unique colors, veining, and mineral patterns, giving homeowners a wide range of stunning options.
What Is a Quartzite Countertop Made Of?
Quartzite countertops are made from 100% natural stone, formed when sandstone is transformed by intense heat and pressure into an exceptionally hard, dense material. During this metamorphic process, quartz grains fuse together to create a rock even harder than granite. Each slab is composed primarily of quartz minerals—providing strength, sparkle, and durability—along with natural impurities such as iron oxide, mica, or silica that produce its distinctive veining and color variations. Unlike engineered quartz, quartzite contains no resins or added materials, making it a completely natural and authentically unique countertop option.

Quartzite Cleaning Recommendations
Quartzite is easy to care for, and a simple routine will keep it looking elegant for years. For daily cleaning, use a soft cloth with warm water and mild dish soap, and avoid harsh or acidic cleaners that can dull the surface. Wipe spills promptly—especially wine, citrus, coffee, or oils—to help protect the stone’s natural beauty. Using cutting boards and trivets is recommended to preserve the polished finish, and most quartzite countertops benefit from resealing usually twice a year to maintain their protective barrier. For a freshly polished look, a pH-balanced stone cleaner is safe for occasional deeper cleaning. See our Care & Maintenance page for more information.
